Holding onto God through the Dark Night of Doubt
If you’re a person of faith who has experienced a season of significant doubt you’ll know it can be a harrowing experience. Like your world is suddenly unstable. But can doubt ever be a good thing?
In this talk I tell the interwoven stories of two men: one a Middle-Eastern God-follower in 1000BC, the other a 21 year old Bible College student of modern times. Both are experiencing a ‘dark night of the soul’ and both come to a profound experience of God through it.
This is a deeply personal story as the Bible College student referred to is me. I have shared this talk many times but this one was recorded at Newcastle’s BelAir Baptist Church in 2007. It’s based on a chapter in my book Unseen Footprints: Encountering the Divine Along the Journey of Life.

Perhaps that’s one reason why we go through such seasons: to share a few tips to others on the other side.
