How excited I am to show you this!

Here is the cover design for my next book Resurrection Year. As the subtitle suggests, Resurrection Year is a book about starting again after a dream has died, and recounts Merryn’s and my move to England for a ‘new beginning’ of our own. As the back cover says, Resurrection Year is “one part spiritual memoir and one part love story… an honest look at recovering from broken dreams and reconciling with a God who is sometimes silent but never absent.”

The book is still a few months away from release and there is so much more to tell you. What I can say for now is Resurrection Year tells the story of:

  • Merryn’s and my ten-year dream that was left unfulfilled
  • Another ten-year dream that was granted but then relinquished
  • Our exciting, fun, sometimes humorous, often tough year spent starting again

Some Questions Answered

When will the book be released?

Resurrection Year will be released worldwide on Tuesday May 28, 2013, but available for pre-order from February.

Where will it be available?

In all Christian and most mainstream bookshops, plus all online retailers like Amazon and Barnes and Noble. It will be available in ebook form also and so in the Kindle and Apple stores too.

Was it difficult to write?

Oh my goodness… Writing Resurrection Year required us to relive some very painful experiences and dashed hopes. Merryn would come home at times to find me in a very dark place indeed. (Much of that heartache is revealed in chapter 1 – a chapter few who’ve read the book can read without tears.)

But in another sense, there was a joy in writing this book that I’ve rarely experienced before. The book’s structure came fairly quickly and very little of the draft material was edited out. The words, paragraphs and metaphors flowed. The craft of writing is always difficult, but I felt a grace in writing this book that was unique.

Can I read any of it now?

I have shared one scene from the book already and will be sharing more on this blog in the coming months. To make sure you catch each excerpt, please subscribe to my newsletter.

As I’ve previously mentioned, this was not the book I was expecting to write but more and more feels like the book I was meant to write. It is already proving helpful for those who have experienced their own broken dream, whether it be unwanted singleness, infertility, the loss of a loved one or the loss of a career.

My and Merryn’s prayer is that God will use Resurrection Year to catalyse a new beginning for others who need one.

Thank you for your interest in this most unexpected book.

Sheridan, I can feel your passion and pain and that is just reading what you wrote here about the book. I would love to read the book … and reflect on where God has been during difficult times in my life; ALWAYS there. ALWAYS my hope. Always.

Thanks Dione. This book is quite vulnerable in its sharing of our feelings, doubts and disappointments. Again, nothing like what I was expecting to ever write. My prayer is that honesty opens the space for others to share their own broken dreams and then move on to the next thing God has for them.

Congrats on the completion of your new book and more importantly, on the courage that you and Merryn have exhibited in writing it. I look forward to reading it, along with my box of tissues in hand. The honesty that you’ll have writen from, along with it being God’s testimony in your lives, will make it a 2013 must read. Well done my friends. x Tammy
