After many months of writing and editing, my new book Resilient: Your Invitation to a Jesus-Shaped Life is out. It’s a journey of 90 readings through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, showing how it can build spiritual, emotional and relational resilience in us. I’m excited by the kind endorsements the book has received and the feedback from those who’ve read pre-release copies. On launch night I hosted a simple livestream video to explore the topic of resilience, which is ready for you to watch on replay.
The 4 Factors of Resilience
According to psychologists like Martin Seligman, there are four main factors that build resilience in us:
- Positive Emotions
- Strong Relationships
- A Sense of Meaning
- A Sense of Accomplishment
In the livestream I share how each factor is present in the Sermon on the Mount, how we can live each one out, and take viewer questions. It’s kinda cool that Jesus beat the psychologists to their discoveries by two millennia.
If you’d like to read more I’ve written an article on the topic for Christianity magazine. And of course, the full treatment is found in the book.
